Roofing lead generation: what you pay for, and what you actually get
Short answer. Roofing is the most expensive of the home-service trades in Google Local Services Ads data: roughly $55–90 per lead in 2026. That makes the unit you pay for decisive. A booked roof inspection with the property owner, inside your area and for work you do, is worth more than several form fills. Avantai Labs' current focus is high-ticket trades such as foundation repair and standby generators; it can take roofing work on request, under the same written appointment definition.

What does a roofing company need from lead generation?
A roof replacement is a high-ticket, low-frequency purchase. The homeowner gets several quotes and decides over days or weeks. Storm work behaves differently: urgent, local and crowded.
So a roofer needs two things from lead generation: inspections with owners who can decide, and follow-up that keeps the quote alive until they do. A lead list delivers neither by itself.
Should roofers chase storm leads?
Only if you can staff them. Storm demand arrives all at once and every competitor in the county is calling the same streets. If your crew is already booked, paying for more storm leads raises cost without raising jobs.
Planned replacement estimates are steadier. They are also where a qualified appointment definition earns its keep: owner present, roof type in scope, address in your area.
How do roofing lead generation models compare?
The same five models exist in roofing. The higher the cost per lead, the more the exclusivity and the appointment definition matter.
| Model | You pay for | Exclusive? | Risk sits with | Examples |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Shared lead marketplace | Each lead, whether or not the homeowner answers or hires you | No. The homeowner is shown several pros | You | Angi (as described by Housecall Pro) |
| Pay per lead (ads platform) | Each call or message from a homeowner | Usually yes, but you still have to answer first | You | Google Local Services Ads |
| Marketing agency (SEO, PPC, web) | A monthly fee plus ad spend | Yes | You. The deliverable is traffic and forms | Home-service marketing agencies |
| Pay per appointment | Each booked appointment | Depends. Read the terms: some let the homeowner request 1–4 companies | Shared, if the appointment definition is written down | Peak Marketing Service, Booked Then Built |
| Booked appointment system (Avantai's model) | A setup fee and a flat monthly fee. No per-appointment fee | Yes. The appointment is with your shop only | Shared: 3-month pilot, 30 days' notice to leave, written appointment definition for reporting | Avantai Labs |
What counts as a qualified roofing appointment?
Avantai's starting definition for residential roofing. It is adjusted per company before work starts.
Counts
- Property owner present at the inspection
- Roof type and job type you do (replacement, repair, insurance claim, if in scope)
- Address inside your service area
- Name, need and inspection window confirmed
Does not count
- Tenants or people without authority to decide
- Commercial roofs if you only do residential, or the reverse
- Out-of-area addresses

Six questions to ask any roofing lead generation company
- Is the lead or appointment exclusive to my company, in writing?
- What exactly counts as a qualified appointment, and is that definition in the contract?
- Who answers the inquiry first, and how fast? Ask for the process, not a promise.
- Do I pay for no-shows, out-of-area jobs or work I do not do?
- Who owns the ad accounts, the landing pages and the contact data if we stop?
- Can they show results with a source and a date, or only a percentage with no context?
Who this is for, and who it is not for
- Residential roofers who want planned replacement inspections, not only storm volume.
- Companies with a salesperson who can be at the inspection in the agreed window.
- Owners who want the appointment definition in writing.
Not a fit
- Shops that want the cheapest possible lead and will work volume themselves.
- Companies with no one to run the appointment. Filling a calendar nobody covers solves nothing.
- Anyone who expects a guaranteed number of jobs. Avantai does not promise volume.

Usually, if you compare cost per signed job instead of cost per lead. A shared lead is a homeowner several roofers are calling at once. Make the provider define exclusive in writing.
Does Avantai do storm chasing?
No. Avantai books appointments inside the area and job types you define. If storm work is in your scope, it goes in the definition; it is not the default.
Does Avantai have roofing results?
Not yet. Avantai Labs has not published measured results from its own roofing projects and does not publish them until a pilot has run a full period.
